Tietê
A downloadable Tietê
São Paulo was built over more than a thousand water streams, and today most of them run buried beneath its streets, forgotten under concrete. In Tietê, the player is a lone planter who brings them back. By day, the city feels safe but sealed - pavement everywhere, rain with nowhere to go. By night, the surface turns hostile and watched by those who keep the rivers trapped and controlled. The player descends into the hidden world underneath, where the rivers themselves and the native fauna and flora still resist, waiting to be found. Guided by native Mata Atlântica trees - an Araçá that reveals what's buried, a Juçara that grows into a path upward, a Cambuci that calls the water back to the surface - the player races the dawn to “plant water” before the underground closes off again. Level by level, the city changes: concrete gives way to green, and buried water becomes visible life again.
The game is inspired by São Paulo's own river-restoration movements, and asks a simple, real question: how can we find balance in coexistence with non-humans lifeforms ?
